Meeting details
Facilitator: Henry Andrews
Aim: This is a group for people with prostate cancer to receive and offer support by sharing experience and information, and by listening to each other. We want the meetings to be somewhere that members feel comfortable to talk about things openly, including their feelings and emotions. We want people from all social groups to know they belong in the group.
What we do
By 10 a.m. we gather and get a name badge. There is tea and coffee in our room.
To start off the meeting we go over any business items for the group and news about PC.
Sometimes we have an outside speaker, in which case they talk next, and answer questions, for 45 minutes or so, up to 11 a.m.
The bulk of the meeting is hearing from each other about how things are going with our PC, its treatment and everything about how it is affecting us and our nearest and dearest. We usually have new members to hear from and to introduce ourselves to.
In larger meetings we spend some of the time in smaller groups of 3 – 5 people so that more people get time to talk.
By 12 noon we have finished.
Facilities
There is a disabled toilet which has an appropriate bin for pads, etc.
